Krav-maga and its origins

Krav-maga (in Hebrew: close combat) is the official self defence and combat system adopted by the Israeli army, police forces and security services. It is also taught in the institutions associated to National Ministry of Institution. Krav-maga was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld during his rich career in martial arts, firstly in the role of chief instructor of close combat in the army and later in the civil field. Krav-maga is not another martial art school based on conventional approach. We are dealing with a modern method characterised by a coherent and logical mentality, which allows to develop natural, practical and easy training methods and techniques based on relatively simple movements. This system reflects real situations, it teaches how to save lives and how to face violence. Therefore it can not afford to have rules or limits. For the same reason, being a realistic fighting system it can not promote sports competitions.
